Some might say I’m a city kid turned country living/homesteading hopeful 😊
Although I was raised mostly as a city kid, country living has been in my life for as long as I can remember. My dad, both sets of grandparents, and other relatives were all active farmers during their lifetimes. This history of farming in my family plus growing up somewhat in Kansas (where we were active in a home-schooling 4-H club) is what introduced me to the country lifestyle.
However, the twists and turns of life interrupted and removed me from country living for many years. Learning about chickens, gardening, and self-sufficient homesteading was completely off the radar.
Then in 2017 my wife and I took the opportunity to purchase our first home… a small 3-bedroom house that sits on less than 2 acres in Oklahoma. Although small, it feels like it’s in the country, and came with a decent sized barn/shed on the property.
Initially I wasn’t seeking to have the homesteading lifestyle. But my wife wanted a garden, and she had recently been introduced to the “Back to Eden” style of gardening. One thing led to another, and before I knew it my country living urges were re-ignited, and thus a fun new adventure began.
If you are into self-sufficient living, homesteading, and other country living stuff, then I think you’re going to enjoy what we have for you here. By creating this website my hope is to share our journey and adventures with you and the rest of the world, hoping that we can all enjoy the ride together.
I want you to be wildly successful with your homesteading efforts, and am working to make this site your most crucial and best resource to help you on that path. Whether you just want a small partial homestead or the full-blown off the grid living/self-sufficient experience, my aim with this site is to give you as much information and resources as possible to make your journey smooth.
The hope I have personally for my family’s country living and homesteading is to spend our days based out of home being with family. To enjoy the freedom to choose what projects to pursue and what work to perform. To keep our health with good food from a garden and other self-sufficient food production. To enjoy life loving Jesus, all while living the country life to the fullest extent possible.
Is it possible? I think so. Follow us on this journey and we’ll find out! Just add your name and email address below and we’ll be sure to keep you updated 😊
